Reiki
Reiki is a holistic therapy, which aims to treat the whole person by helping to restore the harmony of mind, body and spirit.
The origins of Reiki are ancient but this form of energetic balancing was re-discovered by Dr Mikao Usui, a Japanese priest in the late century, It is a gentle yet powerful form of healing. The word Reiki means 'Universal Life Energy' or Spiritually guided life force energy'. This is the vital energy which permeates all of life. He called this energy Reiki (pronounced Ray Key).
Reiki works on the subtle energy levels of the body and involves transmitting a form of energy known as 'universal energy' via the practioner to the client. This energy seeks to harmonised and balance the body.
Reiki is a totally safe non-intrusive system, which directs energy to balance all aspects of a persons body, emotions, mind and soul. Reiki is now often seen in many hospitals, hospices and is widely used in palliative health care. It is important to discuss any relevant medical history with your Practioner so that the treatment can be tailored to suit your individual needs.
Modern day life with its pressures of work, home and family life, tend to present situations in which the possibility of becoming stressed is ever present. It is long-term stress which can be harmful to our bodies. Reiki helps to de-stress our body, which will often lead to an ability to cope. Reiki can aid the bodies ability to achieve an overall balance and is ideal for preventative health care. The potential health benifits from Reiki can include:
A feeling of deep relaxationA calm and soothed mindThe relief of stress and tensionImproved blood and lymph circulationA stimulated immune systemIncreased energy levelsA normalising of body functioningA general sense of well being
An initial consultation, which includes medical history is taken.
Reiki is administered by either the Practioner laying their hands gently on the body or from a short distance from the body. The client remains fully clothed throughout this process. A full body treatment usually lasts for 1 hour.
Each individual's experience of Reiki will be unique. Some of the common sensations felt during a Reiki session are heat, tingling, coolness, and movement )often felt like wind blowing or water flowing) within the body.
Reiki restores and harmonises your life energy and increases the bodies ability to heal itself. It can be given as a deep relaxing therapy or as a more intensive treatment concentrating on specific areas of disease. Most people experience deep feelings of relaxation and inner calm after receiving Reiki.
